Peer Academic Mentoring

Peer Academic Mentoring is now available for all Curtin current students during semester weeks.

Please check back soon for available times – sessions will resume in week 1 of semester 2, 2021.

How we can help you

Peer Academic Mentors (PAMs) are current Curtin students from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds. They are acing their studies, and can provide you with tips and advice to excel in yours too.

Our Peer Academic Mentors can help you with:

  • Academic skills (reading, writing, planning, maths, stats and time management)
  • Faculty or course-specific skills and questions
  • Navigating BlackBoard and OASIS
  • Searching
  • Referencing
  • Software (Microsoft Office, SPSS).

Our mentoring sessions are designed to equip you with the tools you need to study smarter. Mentors will not be able to proofread your assignments, but can direct you to appropriate resources to make your work the best it can be.

Preparing for your mentoring session

To ensure our Mentors can best assist you with your questions, please bring the following materials to your session (on a USB is fine):

  • your unit outline and other relevant materials (e.g. marking rubric)
  • a copy of the assignment question
  • a plan of your work (if you have it)
  • anything else that might help the Mentor (and you) to understand your task or problem better.
