We understand that online study can be exciting, rewarding, and a very new way of studying for some people. Orientation is your opportunity to find your way around your online learning environment, explore what support services are available to you, and connect with your classmates online.

Whether you’re a fully online student, or attending some classes on campus, new online students often have lots of questions about how to prepare for university. Prepare for online study with the Curtin eLearning website, with tips, tutorials and the information you’ll need to get started on your journey at Curtin.

Create your very own O-Week experience with the orientation planner.

The planner shows you the compulsory online sessions you’ll need to attend. You can also use it to plan any other online activities you want to take part in over the week.

Don’t wait until O-Week to start preparing for university! There are a few tasks you need to complete before your Orientation begins, so we’ve created a handy checklist to make sure you don’t miss anything.

Prepare your study schedule

Check the academic calendar for a list of all key dates at Curtin, and your unit outline on Blackboard will let you know all your important assessment dates.

Manage your time

Successful online students are able to balance studying with other life commitments. Boost your skills now with the free Study Skills online Time Management workshop.

Check regularly for updates

Check your student email, Blackboard, and Curtin’s Official Communication Channel (OCC) in OASIS at least once a week, so you don’t miss out on important information.

Make sure to connect with your mentor!

Undergraduate and enabling program students will be matched with an online mentor who will help you through your first semester at Curtin. Your mentor will email you in the first week of semester.

If you’re a postgraduate student, you can apply for a mentor through the Curtin Student Guild’s Postgraduate Mentor Program.
