If your study is a research or a teaching project, you need to complete the Research/Teaching Ethics Application form. If your study is an observational study, please complete the Observational Study Ethics Application form.
If your project has already been approved by another Animal Ethics Committee, you may qualify for reciprocal ethics approval through Curtin. To apply for reciprocal ethics approval, complete the Reciprocal Ethics Application form and provide the necessary documentation as outlined in the instructions guide.
Report all unexpected adverse events to the AEC within 24 hours of being aware of the events by submitting an Adverse Event report.
If you propose to change your study in any way, please submit an Amendment Request. Amendments to the protocol must not be acted on until approval has been granted.
All Curtin staff and student must receive approval prior to work with animals. Submit the Change of Investigator/s request to add/remove investigators or change investigator’s details.
As a condition of an approval and in order for the approved animal ethics project to continue each year, the researchers must submit an Annual Progress report on the anniversary of the ethics approval.
Submit a Completion Report as soon as practicable upon completion of the project.
Researchers must report on the number of animals used in each calendar year as well as at the end of the project to finalise animal numbers by submitting an Animal Use report.
Sign-off on an application/report in the InfoEd by viewing the documents and indicating whether you accept the submission or not.

If your animal ethics submission has been reviewed by the Animal Ethics Committee and requires revisions, you will need to respond to the AEC via InfoEd.
