Attend a ceremony
If eligible, you will be invited to register to attend a graduation ceremony in Perth or at one of our global campus locations. Check your invitation OC to register by the published deadline.
Dates and locations
At the ceremony
Please arrive at the venue at least one hour before your graduation ceremony begins.
Please arrive one hour before the ceremony start time. You will have a briefing session 20 minutes before the ceremony begins. Ceremonies usually run for 90 minutes.
Graduates are presented with their awards after the welcome address and occasional address. You will be invited to move to the front of the stage row by row. Staff will check your name and make sure your regalia is worn correctly before you cross the stage. Your photo will be taken as you receive your award certificate from the Chancellor. Then return to your original seat.
The ceremony concludes with the charge to graduates by the Vice-Chancellor and the closing address. Refreshments and photography services are available after the ceremony concludes.
You will sit towards the front of the stage with your graduating cohort. Your seat number will be displayed on your ticket. It is important to sit in the correct seat during the ceremony.
Your guests are welcome to sit anywhere in the guest area behind you. Priority seating is reserved for elderly people and wheelchair access.
Entry to the venue is by ticket only. Please ensure your guests keep their tickets with them.
Graduation ceremonies usually run for 90 minutes. You are encouraged to stay seated until the end of formal proceedings.
You can purchase light refreshments before, but not during, the graduation ceremony. Light snacks and drinks are available after the ceremony.

If you have special access requirements please see one of the ceremony ushers when you arrive at the ceremony venue who will assist with appropriate seating.
No guests will be allowed to enter the venue before the venue opening times. Opening times will be outlined in the Graduation Confirmation Official Communication.
Curtin accepts the Companion Card
for graduation ceremonies held in Perth. Holders of the Companion Card will be issued with a second ticket for the graduation ceremony for their companion at no charge.

If attending your ceremony, you must wear approved Curtin academic regalia. After you have completed your online registration, you will be redirected to order your regalia online.
As this is a formal occasion, please wear neat business attire under your approved Curtin academic regalia.
If you are attending a graduation ceremony in Perth, Kalgoorlie or Singapore you can hire or purchase Curtin academic regalia from our official provider GFP Graduations. Information regarding regalia hire for ceremonies at other locations will be provided by your campus.
After you have completed your registration via the graduations channel in OASIS, you will be directed to the GFP Graduations website to order your regalia.
If you are not attending your ceremony and would like to purchase or hire regalia, or for more information please contact GFP Graduations.
Information about the location, date and time you can collect your regalia will be sent to your official communication channel in OASIS after the registration closes.
Regalia must be returned at the ceremony venue one hour after the conclusion of your ceremony. Please see your ticket for further information. Late fees will apply.

Sash and hood colours
These colours distinguish each discipline and are expressed in terms of the British Colour Council Dictionary of Standard Colours, 1951 for academic dress.
Types of academic regalia
Associate degree – Associate degree graduates wear a black robe and Curtin sash in the appropriate discipline colour. The mortarboard is not worn.
Bachelor degree – Bachelor degree graduates wear a black robe, Curtin sash in the appropriate discipline colour. Headwear is a black mortarboard with black tassel worn on the left side. The mortarboard is optional.
Postgraduate degree – Postgraduate diploma graduates wear a black robe, Curtin sash in the appropriate discipline colour. Headwear is a black mortarboard with black tassel worn on the left side. The mortarboard is optional.
Master degree – Postgraduate diploma graduates wear a black robe, Curtin sash appropriate discipline colour. Headwear is a black mortarboard with gold tassel worn on the left side. The mortarboard is compulsory.
Doctoral degree – Doctoral graduates wear a burgundy cloth robe with a black braided sleeve decoration and burgundy good with black lining. Headwear is a black velvet Tudor bonnet. The full set must be worn to receive your award.
As this is a formal occasion graduates are asked to wear neat business attire under their academic regalia.
All ceremony information regarding guest ticket allocation, purchasing additional tickets and collecting your tickets will be included in your registration confirmation OC.
Additional guest tickets may be available for purchase after the registration period closes. Sale dates and ticket costs will be advertised in your registration confirmation OC. Please note extra tickets may be restricted per graduate.
Tickets are strictly limited, are subject to restrictions based on venue capacity and may sell out.
Tickets are non-refundable.
To collect your tickets and regalia you must present photo identification (e.g. Curtin student ID card, drivers licence, passport). Tickets will not be mailed and can only be collected in person. The date, time and location of your ticket and regalia collection will be confirmed in your Registration Confirmation Official Communication sent to your OASIS account.
If you cannot collect your tickets and regalia and require someone to collect on your behalf, please complete and print out the Disclosure of Information Proxy Form
. Your proxy must bring in the completed hardcopy of the form together with their own photo identification to present during ticket and regalia collection.
Tickets and regalia will not be issued without authorisation from the graduate.

Photography and memorabilia
GFP Graduations are Curtin’s preferred supplier of graduation photography and memorabilia.
The official photographer for Curtin graduation ceremonies held in Perth, Kalgoorlie and Singapore is GFP Graduations. A photo will be taken of each graduate as they cross the stage to receive their award. Graduates may download a free electronic copy of their stage photo from the GFP Graduations
website after the ceremony.
A studio photography service is also available before and after your ceremony. Graduates must pay a sitting fee to have studio photos taken. Additional charges apply to receive the studio photographs.
Yes. A framing service is available for ceremonies in Perth, Kalgoorlie and Singapore immediately after the ceremony. Please see GFP Graduations website for details.
Frames can be pre-ordered and paid for prior to the ceremony or at the time of framing.
It is recommended two colour photocopies of your award are produced and certified prior to framing for future use.

Curtin memorabilia will be available to purchase the day before and after your ceremony. GFP Graduations will have a large variety of memorabilia including bears with your own regalia and discipline colours.
