Leave of absence appeal

When a student receives notification that their application for leave of absence has been denied and they believe that the decision is unjustified they can formally appeal the decision.

A formal appeal requires a letter to the Head of School no later than five (5) working days after you have been notified of the outcome of your application for leave of absence. A decision will be made within five (5) working days of acknowledgement and the student will be notified in writing of this decision.

Most students aren't aware of their right to request a Leave of Absence. If you have applied and have been refused you have a right to appeal that decision. Talk to the Student Assist Department at the Guild if you are unsure how to appeal this decision. You may also want to discuss your decision with the Counselling service, as they may be able to give you some tips to support you with your issue of requiring a leave of absence.
