Semester Two 2018 Orientation Week runs from Monday 23 – Friday 27 July 2018.
Orientation is how we welcome new students to the Curtin community and O-Week is the important first step to get you started.
O-Week will help set you up for a successful first semester at university. There are compulsory academic sessions to introduce you to your course and key staff. You’ll also get to know the campus, find your classrooms, navigate the Library, and learn who to contact if you need help. With free entertainment and activities throughout the week, you’ll also have an opportunity to meet new friends and have fun!
Keep reading for important information on how to get the most from your O-Week.
Plan your Orientation
If you’re new to course, you can create your personal timetable for O-Week with the Orientation Planner. The Orientation Planner shows you all of the compulsory sessions you need to attend during O-Week. It also allows you to build a timetable of the additional information sessions, activities, and fun events you’d like to attend. Log in through OASIS and select the “Plan your O-Week” button.
Are you a returning student?
O-Week is for returning students too. If your Faculty is planning to hold re-enrolling student orientation sessions, you should receive the details via the Official Communication Channel (OCC) in OASIS. Download a list of the sessions [.pdf].
You can also download the program [.pdf] of additional information sessions, activities and fun events available throughout the week here.
Check the checklist
Don’t wait until O-Week to start preparing for university! There are a few tasks you need to complete before your Orientation begins, so we’ve created a handy checklist .[pdf] to make sure you don’t miss anything.
Say hello to our friendly volunteers and meet your mentor!
Be on the lookout for volunteers in green t-shirts during O-Week – they’ll be around campus to help you settle in and find your way around.
Undergraduate and enabling program students will be matched with an experienced student who will help you through your first semester at Curtin. You will meet your mentor at your academic Orientation session.
If you’re a postgraduate student, you can apply for a mentor through the Curtin Student Guild’s Postgraduate Mentor Program.
