Withdrawal Under Special Circumstances
If you have experienced an adverse and unexpected event that has had a significant impact on your studies after the census date of a particular study period, you may be eligible to apply to be withdrawn from your studies under special circumstances. In order for your application to be favourably considered, you will need to demonstrate that these circumstances:
- were beyond your control;
- did not make their full impact known until on or after the census date; and
- affected you to the extent that you were unable to complete the requirements of the unit.
If your application is successful, you will be automatically withdrawn from the unit(s) and the withdrawal will be recorded on your Academic Transcript as "WD". You will also be eligible for a remission of debt and/or a refund if you are granted a withdrawal from your studies under special circumstances.
To apply for Withdrawal Under Special Circumstances, please download and complete the Application for Refund/Remission of Debt/Withdrawal Under Special Circumstances form and submit it with relevant supporting original documentation to the University Fees Centre in Student Central.
The various census dates for the academic year can be found on the Academic Calendar and Key Dates page.
